Last Friday, the Zalando Style Icons took place. I was lucky enough to be able to attend this glorious celebration of the Belgian blogger community. For the first time, I saw young, old, big and small creators come together in one place. It was as if my Instagram feed had manifested in real life. Luckily, I had a insta-worthy outfit to complement the occasion.
Since it’s the season of everything and anything goes – and I found myself running out of clothing stores – I found myself shopping in Cool Cat. I rarely find anything in there I can bare to look at. For some reason, they always come up with these great clothing items, which they then destroy by putting on as much glitter and plastic diamonds as they can. To finish of the job, they’ll then rip the clothes to take down the toddlers and tiara vibes in a desperate cry to give the clothes some kind of edge.
But not with this one! I’m not one for dresses and skirts. And you’re often underdressed when wearing pants. This suit, however combines my classic tomboy look with an interesting edge. The cut-outs are present, but not overwhelming, which makes for the perfect understated outfit.
As I won tickets through Marie Claire Belgium, I wasn’t a blogger asked by Zalando to attend the event. This meant that I was definitely one of the smaller creators at the awards. And it showed. Don’t get me wrong. I met some amazing online friends. But every now an again one of the bigger bloggers would walk by, “gracing” us with their presence and the divide suddenly became very obvious. That said, I had a great time with even greater people. Until next year?
